Job Description:

Position Summary
The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for communication and presence of the organization in all outlets for Long Way Home. This position is full time on-site at Long Way Home’s school campus in rural Guatemala.
Skills Needed:
● Ability to multi-task, detail oriented, logistical planning
● Enjoy working with people, cheerful, approachable and patient
● Program budgeting and management
● Excellent written and verbal skills: English and Spanish
● Highly organized
● Computer literacy: Office Suite, Internet research, Adobe InDesign (if possible), etc.
● Fundraising, Marketing
● Social Media - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
● Graphic design (preferred)
● Must be a team player and flexible to assist with other tasks needed
Work & Living Environment:
● Working conditions: office/computer majority of the time, 5+ hrs/week on construction site.
● Living and working in rural Guatemala.
● Maintaining a low-impact sustainable lifestyle.
● Shared housing with coworkers and/or volunteers.
● Light construction/material handling may be required.
● Employee may encounter intestinal parasites. Employees are required to have all
immunizations (including Hep A & B) current as well as current tetanus shot.
● Must be able to walk up and down hills multiple times daily at elevation.
● Ensure organization maintains consistent “look-and- feel” including editing all marketing
materials, even those of outside partners who mention LWH (where possible).
● Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
○ Taking daily photos/videos - construction, volunteers, school activities
○ Posting to social media sites at least 3 times per week
○ Managing media archive - organizing photos and information
● Manages Network for Good - online fundraising platform
○ Creating fundraising & event pages
● Drafts and sends quarterly newsletter to all contacts in database
○ Keeping Constant Contact (online email database) updated with all contacts
● Manages Global Giving - online donor network website
○ Writes and submits project update report every 3 months
○ Accomplishes different tasks needed to make sure we have the best rating
● Co-Chair Outreach Committee. - monthly meetings over Skype
○ Set Agenda for meetings
○ Participate in development and implementation of annual strategic fundraising plan
● Gives school site tours for all visitors
● Stays in contact with LWH volunteer alumni network
○ Facebook contact
○ Invites them to upcoming local events
○ Maximizing the outreach network for fundraising and volunteer/group recruitment
● Lead or co-lead fundraising campaigns (1-2 times per year)
○ Fundraises during campaigns, maintaining and using Long Way Home network to assist fundraising efforts during and in between campaigns
● Assist Director of Development with marketing tasks as needed
● Creates marketing materials using graphic design
● Research and writing grants - as needed
● Assists in managing materials on LWH website - Squarespace
● Assists in managing communications/relationships with donors and volunteers
● Update Outreach monthly budget
○ Responsible for all Outreach receipts
● Support Volunteer Program as needed
● Works on site at least 5 hrs/ week - ideally with the volunteers
● Available for assistance as needed
Position Details:
Minimum commitment: 6 months
Monthly stipend provided along with shared/on-site housing, monthly phone plan and visa renewal requirements.
Required to be available to be on-site when needed, which may include nights and weekends.
Preferred if you bring your own computer/tablet device to work on.
